This years Millis Buddy Bowl honors local hero Sgt. Joe Deslauriers.
A true American Hero, 32 year old Air Force Technical Sergeant, Joe Deslauriers is an Explosive Ordinance Disposal specialist who has served a tour in Kuwait a tour in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan. He has received a bronze star.
Sgt Deslauriers was seriously injured while on a mission clearing an area for a convoy where it appears an IED was remotely detonated. He has suffered the loss of both legs and an arm. We understand he is up for the challenge and is progressing each day, but the road to recovery will be long and hard.
This local hero from Bellingham MA, and his wife Lisa are expecting their first child in December.

What a wonderful way to support a local hero! I would love to help out in some way. (Either donate or watch - would love to play but....)
ReplyDeleteI also would love to have my students write to Sgt Deslauriers for Veteran's Day (do you think you can get me his address?).
Thanks for sharing Sgt Deslauriers's story.
I believe I can and will. Do you think your kids would like to play. If they can round up 10 kids, I will sponsor their team. Let me know.
ReplyDeleteI think John would like to play...let's see if he can round up some kids to play. Very generous offer on your part!
